You know, I too struggle with mental illness: in a way, the big deal was to able to see it as a sort of funny blessing, as a challenge... I hope your husband crawls his way in that direction. As for you, I am not sure if you ever heard about the "serenity prayer". have you? I learned it on 12 steps groups. It goes like this: "(whoever, may be God), grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change those I can and the wisdom to know the difference".

God of Love, your Son became man and acted not only as a physician of souls but also as a healer of physical and mental illness. We ask you to cure this Susan's husband, if it is in accord with your plan for him. Enable him to serve you with a healthy body and mind. May he strive for Christian perfection, helped by your grace, for your greater glory and honor and for the advantage of his/her neighbor. Amen.
