Hi, I'm Lisa, Alexis grandmother. Today is the last day of Alexis 3 day chemo treatment and she seems to have had some difference. She is very pale and seems to be getting weak. The Dr.'s seem to think that the chemo is not working as fast as they would like on the secondary tumer that is in her head and that they may have to use Radiation which may cause complication with the chemo. Thank you so much for your prayers, we need a miricle!!!

Update - 10 months ago:

hi, this is rettagee, my friend lisa was here the other night so i let her do the update. today is sat. and they just called to say they were making the 4 hour trip to visit with Alexis, Hope they have Good news when they get back. My prayers will be with them

Update - 9 months ago:

Lisa came back with alot of pictures of Alexis. I must say I was Shock! I didn't know things could happen SO fast. Lisa [Alexis Grandmother, and my best friend] showed me pictures of Alexis. The first picture was before we knew she was sick, what a beautiful baby girl. The pictures Lisa took while in the hospital seemed like they were of a different baby, and it was only two weeks later. Her little head had a large bump...sorry HUGE bump. Her eyes were black, from so much pressure. She looked like a limp doll in her mother's arms. When Lisa got there no one seemed to know if she was getting anything for pain. The tumor is so large that she went blind. So first thing was to make sure she got pain reliever. Lisa came back sunday with the pictures, we were going to put up a couple. But she had to leave today to go back unexpectly. I hope to hear from her soon.
Everyone aroud here are so good. We have a fundraiser coming up soon, because Alexis may be going to Boston. Funny how when one little soul is sick it affects so many.
I must say that little Alexis lives in Maine. She is in the Bangor hospital which is quite a ways from here.
I'm glad Lisa got to spend some time playing with her [when she felt a little better].
But now I'm am quite worried that Lisa left so fast that she didn't have time to tell me.
I hope God has Mercy on little Alexis.

Update - 9 months ago:

Dear Prayer Family.
I spoke to Lisa this morning on the phone, and she said to say a BIG Thank You for all of your prayers all over the world. WOW ! Paise God !
Lisa came back from Bangor with High Hopes. She said the prayers are working, Praise God.
Drs. seem glad with the way Alexis is responding. She has had her Radiation everyday now for 2 weeks and 2 days, with her last one tomorrow [19th]. The treatments hasn't made her too sick. I wish I could take them for her.
The parents are preparing to take her to Boston on Thursday for the appointment concerning her stemcells. [ I hope to learn more about that ]
Her black eye is just about gone, the pressure has to be going down with the tumor getting smaller. She is having some pain. I guess we need to continue with prayers for pain. Again I wish I could trade places with her.
Doctors still say she cannot see,but Lisa talked to Clay [father] this morning and he said he held out a picture and she reached for it. And then again she went to reach for it a second time. I cried when Lisa told me. I praise God. I hope "it" wasn't just an accident, and she really could see even if she only has one eye. Doctors are having a hard time checking this because she shuts her eyes and cry when they come near.

Alexis's parents are very young, only just turned 18. We are not sure if they really understand "just how serious her condition is". You know ..if it really has sunk in yet. So maybe this is a Blessing for them. Lisa and I can do all the worrying and little Alexis will get better.

Lisa and I became first time Grandparents together at the same time. She got a granddaughter and I got a grandson a few weeks later. This has been hard for me because of just how close we are and of course of the 'what if' factor.
I pray that nobody has to watch a child suffer.
God Bless You All. rettagee

Update - 9 months ago:

Dear Prayer Family;

The fundraiser was a huge success! We live in a very small community, but everyone turned out for it and we raised $4,300.00.WOW! This was very much needed because Clay { Father } got "laid off " from work because of losing so many days of work. He hasn't left Alexis's side.

Alexis came back from Boston and things went well there. She will be going back Oct. 1 to start preparing for stemcell transplant. [ if everything keeps going as plan ].

Alexis started her chemo again on friday and and will be done today (sunday) sometime. I don't think she has had a day off from treatments since she started them. Lisa says she looks a lot better, when I get some new pictures I will post them.

Alexis still cannot see and things don't really look good for her getting her sight back medically wise. But there is always our Heavenly Father.

I am so sorry for not posting more often. I will try to do better. I wish to Thank everyone for every prayer sent to Alexis and for those of you who lighted a candle on her behalf. It is so refreshing to know that people you don't even know personally can care so much.

May God Bless each and everyone!

Alexis came home for what was suppose to be a couple of days but had to go right back to Bangor because her Blood was Low. Then she was supposed to go back to Boston today,Oct 1, to start her stemcell transplant but she developed an infection and could not go. This is like a bad rollercoaster ride.
I feel so helpless, Lisa feels she will not live long, but I keep saying she will. She's not even 2 years old. How can this be?
Thank You for all Your Prayers.

Hello Friends
Wish I had something new to say. Not really much new.
Alexis caught a second infection. So..I guess that means the stem cell will wait awhile.
She is still taking treatments. Not many days that she hasn't had any. She is more sick with these treatments now.
She has been in the hospital almost everyday since she was diagnosed. That little girl, and all the children with cancer, has gone through so much.
Someday... someday it and all dieases will be gone. Praise God.
Next time that Lisa goes to Bangor to see Alexis I will have news of her for you all. Thank You . It seems like Thank You is not enough to say but I don't know what else to say. I know that some of you pray and pray and pray and come back and pray again. You know who you are and God Bless You for it.

Update - 8 months ago:

....Hi,....just to let you all know that Alexis still has the infection and is behind two weeks on her treatments because of it. Doctors has not recently mention Boston and the stem cell transplant. Not sure if they think there is no need now or if they are just waiting for the infection to clear. Both her mom and dad are with her all the time.
Lisa and her husband Steven has not had a chance to go down recently to visit so the news is sketchy.
BUT....The good news is that I have met [on this site] some of the most Wonderful people I have ever known. God Bless each and everyone.

Update - 8 months ago:

Good Day to All;
I would like to start by Thanking Our Lord for his mercy.
I have news that this rapidly growing cancer is NOT growing any more......PRAISE GOD, and all the loving prayer warriors.
I can't explain how I feel when I am on here and see all the love and caring prayers. They must certainly come from straight from God through your HEARTS.

God Bless each and everyone of you.

Update - 8 months ago:

.....I only have a bit of news. Alexis is suppose to go to Boston next week "not sure which day" to start with the stem cell transplant. She will be put to sleep 5 days in a row so they can harvest her stem cells for a later transplant. Oh,..I think of all the little ones crying in pain and suffering with cancer. Someday there will be no such thing!
....Lisa says that Alexis is quite weak now! Just a little glimmer of her old bright self. She suffers with vomiting. BUT, THE CANCER IS NOT GROWING ANYMORE !
..I am going to hold on to this good news. I am going to praise God for this miracle. Thank him for this blessing and pray for more healing.
Thank you Brothers and Sisters. God Bless.

Update - 7 months ago:

Alexis will not be going to Boston this week. She is too sick [her father's words, 'Alexis is not doing too good'.] and has develop complications with her intestines and something is wrong with her stomach area. The stomach is an area that cancer was involved in. The cancer is not growing, but it seems that the treatments are too much for her. I pray that she starts to mend soon before the treatments kill her.
So I guess that we wait some more for the stem cell transplant.
I still hold on to the good news that the cancer is not growing.

Update - 7 months ago:

I have bad news to report about Alexis. Lisa e-mailed me about mid-afternoon and Alexis is in critical condition and on life support. I may not know more until tomorrow.

Update - 7 months ago:

Lisa is on her way to Bangor to be with her son and the baby. I didn't get a chance to speak with her before she left, but if I could ,I would let her know that my heart and soul is with her and I wish I could be there for you.

Update - 7 months ago:

I have heard some news about Alexis { though not directly from Lisa} that Alexis went into kidney failure on thursday, the doctors 'work' on her for 4 hours, it is my understanding at this time that she is stabilize. Lisa's husband left last night to go be with them all in Bangor. He will be missing work today {friday}. I wish I had something more to report but it is just morning right now. I think Alexis would have a good chance if she could just last until the treatments are over and then the doctors could start to nurture and support her little body. I hope God's Will will be done quickly. ......I LOVE YOU ALL !

Update - 7 months ago:

Hello dear dear friends; Lisa and Steven came home and Alexis is not better. She is laying in her bed with alot of tubes and is medicated so she does not move. She does not get held {maybe a little if any} she does respond {her heart returns to normal} when she hears her daddy's voice. Her liver is diseased from the treatments and is causing complications. Her lungs has improved but other organs are suffering.
Things are not as good as they could be with the family members. There is alot of blame on Lisa and it is absurd. When it was first realized that there was something wrong, Lisa was the first to noticed, and the mother finally took her to the doctor , the doctor was told that Lisa poisioned Alexis, Then it was that the baby MUST have gotten into meds at Lisa's house. And all along she had cancer, all that time wasted looking for blame. Lisa let all this slide but I'm not sure I can. So even if you don't post it please say a prayer for Lisa and her family, they are hurting real bad. I don't think Lisa wants an apology, {she is pretty sure she won't get one anyway} she just wants the baby to get better. Has it only been a little over 2 months? Seems longer.
I hope to get back to everyones prayers again, but I try to do a few new ones also. You all are on my mind night and day.
GWBD Gods will be done

Update - 7 months ago:

HI EVERYONE ! Alexis had a fungal infection in her mouth and things seem to be improving now. She is getting better and is not quite as critical as she was. Liver and other organs are improving. It looks like this fungus was the cause of her deterioration and now it is getting cleared up she is getting stronger.
Like I said earlier this is like a rollercoaster. I don't mind the ups. I pray that Alexis makes it to the end of her treatments and starts healing. Thank You ALL SOoooo Much ! Love Ya All. May God Bless You All.

Hello everyone, I have been busy. Just not enough time in a day. ...........I haven't heard alot about Alexis lately. The last thing I posted was Alexis was starting to get better from the infection. Then I didn't hear anything until two days ago. Alexis started and finished another round of chemo and she only has one round left. I really don't know if she is doing well, if she is sick or what. Lisa's son Clay {Alexis's dad} has not phone her for whatever reasons. It is a really sad situation. Lisa is so worried for Alexis and not hearing much. Maybe prayers in this direction would help everyone, even Alexis in the long run....Thank you for not giving up on Alexis. With eveything going on in her little life she needs all of you. Thank You !

Update - 5 months ago:

Hello and Happy New Year.
I am so busy I have two jobs now and Lisa is also working two jobs and we just haven't figured out when to visit and chat. Right on to news about Alexis. She was home for Christmas and I believe she had a good one, I never heard anything about her being sick anyway. She was well enough to go to Boston and get her stem cell harvested. She has two tumors one in her stomach and the one in her head. Both of them has stop growing and are NOT active. I believe the one in her head is smaller if not gone. The one in her stomach is the one that started all of this and is called the primary one. The one in her stomach they want to operate and remove it. She is of course still blind, but seems to be adapting well because there was talk about getting her a snowsuit because she wanted to go outside and play. I am so happy that she is having one of her 'up' times.
I want to thank all of you for all of your prayers. It is no small thing that you all do. Belive me it is a BIG DEAL it takes time, commitment and empathy. All which you give freely. Thank You!

Hello everyone. I'm working a new job and my computer is broke. I'm on someone's elses right now. Alexis had her stemcell transplant and is doing well. Praise God!!!!!!!!! Thank You for all your prayers. Lisa is working also and we don't see each other as often. And I suppose that in this case that no news is good news.
I hope that you all don't think that I just drop you, because that is not the case. I'm working on getting a new computer. I won't even be able to read anwers to this until some time in the future. I hope that everyone is well. And I do think of all of you and I will pray for you all and that one day you all will be able to click on 'prayr answered' . May God bless you all.
