Dear Friends,
Greg, the founder of Prayabout.com needs your prayers. His wife Sam was in a terrible motorcycle accident yesterday.
Greg wrote in an email:
"She was taking her bike home from her father's house, going 30 miles per hour on a residential road and she lost control of the bike. She jumped a curb and hit a telephone pole. She flipped over the front of the bike, glanced off the telephone pole, and landed in the street."
Her liver was lacerated and she suffered further injury to her left hand and her right knee. She has had surgery performed on her liver and the doctors hope it will now heal itself and stop bleeding. She is having additional surgery today.
She is currently in the intensive care unit and is with her family and Greg.
Please pray for Sam's speedy recovery without serious complications.

From Greg:
"Sam is doing much better. Her liver has stopped bleeding after they
packed it and gave her coagulants. They want to take some time to let
it heal a bit further before they take her into surgery again to
remove the packing and close her up. They will be doing a CT scan
later today to see what else is busted.
She has a broken left hand/wrist and possible broken left elbow. Her
right knee looks bad, but no news on that yet. They can't do anything
about the busted hand, etc. until the liver situation is handled over
the course of the next couple of days. The doctors say that it's okay
to wait until later to fix the hand, etc.
She'll probably be in the ICU for a few days longer - they won't wake
her up for two or three days until they make sure her back, etc. are
fine. She'll probably be in the hospital for 1-2 weeks."
Update Tuesday 9AM:
Sam had a peaceful night in the ICU with all labs and vital signs looking good. She's sedated and will remain so until after they are
finished with her liver. She's going into the OR midday today to see if they can remove the packs around her liver and close her up. If the liver begins to bleed again, they will have to repack it and leave her open. They won't be doing the surgery on her hand until at least tomorrow.
From Greg: Tues 2:30:
Sam came out of surgery just fine: no more internal bleeding so they put some funky clotting gel stuff on her liver laceration and closed her up. Later today they will take her for full body scans to make sure nothing else is busted. Meanwhile the orthopedic surgical team wants more hand xrays so they can plan their surgery that will probably happen tomorrow if nothing more serious comes up from the scans. All vitals, etc. are good so they doubt there's anything else seriously wrong.
Thanks again for all your support and good thoughts - I keep telling Sam every time she's semi-lucid about all her wonderful friends and your kind words
Weds 7:42 a.m.:
Sam's CT scan came back excellent! She has a couple of cracked ribs, but nothing else except for the busted up hand. They are slowly bringing her out of sedation now so she should wake up soon. Her hand
surgery is scheduled for tomorrow at the earliest because all the ORs are booked today. They might take her breathing tube out today, or leave it in until after her surgery tomorrow.
She's out of the woods. Whew.
From Greg-
Thurs 8:55pm:
Sam hasn't woken up yet. They say it's because her damaged liver is taking a long time to filter the sedative out of her system. They wanted her to wake up so they could remove the breathing tube and check in with her about pain, etc. But no luck. Her hand surgery is scheduled for tomorrow, but they may have to delay it if her fever doesn't go away. They left the tube in since she's just going to need it for tomorrow. She looks better, but I'm really starting to miss talking with her - she's been out since Sunday afternoon.
Hopefully they'll get her hand surgery done tomorrow. It should take a couple more days after that for the sedative to wear off, so probably won't be able to talk to her until Sunday or Monday if all goes well.
I miss her :(
Friday 9:30 am:
They're doing another CT scan on her head today to make sure there isn't another reason for her not waking up. That worries me. Hopefully it's just her liver taking time to filter out the anesthesia. She still has a fever of 101.5, so hand surgery is pending. I'll keep you posted.
Saturday 8 a.m.:
Sam is awake! She seems a little dazed and confused, but here eyes are open and she responds slightly. She still has the breathing tube in so she can't talk and it's likely it will take a while before her disorientation goes away, but it's good to see her eyes again.
Sam is up, walking and talking and improving rapidly. She has to have minor surgery tomorrow to cauterize a blood vessel in her liver that just won't stop bleeding. She'll most likely be home Saturday or Sunday, with a long list of doctor's appointments and physical & occupational therapy.
Luke 5:20; Luke 5:22-24; Luke 6:3-5; Luke 7:22,23; Luke 8:5-18; Ephesians 6:11-20 20. And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee.
22. But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said unto them, What reason ye in your hearts? 23. Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk? 24. But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house.
3. And Jesus answering them said, Have ye not read so much as this, what David did, when himself was an hungred, and they which were with him; 4. Go he went into the house of God, and did take and eat the shewbread, and gave also to them that were with him; which it is not lawful to eat but for the priests alone? 5. And he said unto them, That the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.
22. Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached. 23. And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.
5. A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it. 6. And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture. 7. And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it. 8. And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredforld. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. 9. And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be? 10. And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing thy might not see, and hearing they might not understand. 11. Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. 12. Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. 13. They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. 14. And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. 15. But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience. 16. No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light. 17. For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing his, that shall not be known and come abroad. 18. Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.
11. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to sand against the wiles of the devil. 12. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in his high places. 13. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15. And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16. Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 18. Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; 19. And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20. For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
