What's Your Issac?

I was listening to a sermon today and part of the sermon touch me to the very core and I have been moved to put part of that sermon and expound on it. I believe that this is a word from the Lord to someone who reads and heeds:
Genesis 22 tells us about the commandment of the Lord to Abraham to sacrifice his son Issac. Verses 1-3 reads:

1And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.

2And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.

3And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.

For those that do not know, Issac was Abraham's promised son, the promise God made and kept to Abraham. Now here the Lord is asking him to go and sacrifice him. Pay attention to verse 3, Abraham didn't ask why, he just got up and went to do what God said do. If you read a little further you will see verses 10-12 says:

10And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.

11And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.

12And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.

Verse 12 is the key... Abraham trusted, loved, and had enough faith in God that he was willing to give up even that which he was promised by God. Because of that faith, God gave a subsititue for the sacrifice that would have been Isaac.

What's the point? I would like to ask you today, what's your Issac? What is it that you have that you are not willing to let go of? What is that you value so much that it is keeping you from allowing God to reveal himself to you? Is it that job that you spend so much time on that you don't have time to worship or spend with your family or let alone pray? Is it that relationship, the one that you wanted for so long and you spend more time wanting to be with them than you do God? And to make matters worse, the person may not share your love of God and may be hurting you either emotionally, physically or both. Is it that child that you spend more of your time on than with? You fail to discipline the child or get upset when others attempt to? Is it your finances? You have to keep up and stay ahead of everyone including youself, you are a slave to your creditors?

What ever your Issac is, remember it is God that has given it to you and as long as you hold the gifts God has given you with an open hand, God will be just and faithful to reward those that diligently seek him.

Are you willing to let go of those things you're putting before God? Stop asking God why. It is envoking doubt on what you want God to do. Just go and do what God has commanded you to do in his word.
Pray that your "Issac" is not blocking your blessing.

Amen
