I don't remember what I told you but Dad is doing some better. He is still having episodes of a-fib, his ventricles are not right either. The doctor was in and said they plan to give the medications some more time, but if it doesn't work they want to put in a pacemaker.
What the cardiologist told us is that because the heart is in a quiver instead of a beat more than not the blood pools in the upper heart, when it pools and sits it will clot causing either a heart attack or stroke. They have him on both caumadin and Lovynox shots right now. We all know he has been hiding how he felt for a long time. In fact this a-fib could very well be what caused his inablity to think.
He is suppose to come home tomorrow if they can regulate his heart.

last update was around 7 tonight... they did a heart cath on dad and found about a one inch blockage and were able to remove it... during recovery he was still a-fibbing( heart rate irregular) and they are trying to figure out what is causing that.... Thank you to all who are praying with us.

They had to put a pacemaker in dad's heart today... surgery. He has come through the surgery and is resting and probably will through the night. Mom and my sister will be with him tonight. If all things stay ok, he will go home tomorrow and probably return to work on Mon. Thank u for all your prayers and thoughts. Will let u know for sure when he goes home.

Harvey came home today.
We went into Houston Medical Center Hospital on Monday after seeing the doctor. They couldn't get his heart stablized and so transferred him to Macon Medical on Tuesday for a heart cath. He had a blockage in his aorta right side and they placed a stent after expanding the vessel. This did not correct the problem. On Wednesday morning we almost lost him, he was on his way out, they gave him atropine IV. Wednesday night we had a couple more episodes of the dizziness, shortness of breath and pressure to his chest but not as severe as on Wed. morning. On Thursday evening they put in a pace maker and increased his meds. He had a reaction to the pain med and starting swelling, they had to give him benadryl IV. He slept all night!! He had episodes yesterday with continued A-fib. They decided to discharge him today. He had episodes of tachycardia and asistole but no more symptoms last night. They inceased the heart med again (from 40 mg to 160 mg) We had lots of visitors and support. Chris was with us most the time, continuously for the past two days. By the time we left I think almost every nurse and tech new who we were. Out of all the staff who served us only a couple did not leave our room laughing.
