DECEPTION and DISCERNMENT - Part Two

"BEWARE NO ONE DECEIVES YOU" were the FIRST words Jesus spoke, in response to his disciples' question about how things would be in the world, just before He returned, indicating, I believe, that DECEPTION would be the HALLMARK of the so
-called "end-times) ("In-between-times" is a much better phrase.)

On prayabout we have recently been very cruelly deceived, although obscenities and blasphemies were a clear "give away," and appropriate action was taken. When satan is exposed, and dealt with, he simply moves to a more subtle approach, in order to deceive, as he also does when WE move up to a new level of spiritual warfare/spiritual growth. "Different level, different devil!" my prayer group leader says, knowing full well that it is the same principalities and powers of darkness thet we "wrestle with", but that the tactics have changed in a subtle way, to deceive us into thinking we are rid of the enemy of our souls, when he is actually still around, but we haven't yet learnt to recognise his new disguise!

In the world around us DECEPTION is EVERYWHERE!!! Credit card scams, money laundering, bogus officials, fake Doctors and other so-called professionals, corruption, lies and "political spin" in politics, as well as ever increasing fake manufactured items with near-perfect designer labels, for example. Here on prayabout, prayers and usernames were copied to seem, at a glance, like the original.

My prayer is this. Heavenly Father, let your children be TRULY "as wise as serpents, and as harmless as doves" just as Jesus told us to be, so that we may easily discern the evil one at work. May we ASK for the GIFT of DISCERNMENT as well as WISDOM in abundance, knowing that Solomon simply asked for the latter, and You, my God gave it to him in full measure. As You have "no favourites" I believe that You will give us the Wisdom of Solomon too, if we only ask You, for Jesus Himself said "Ask, and you WILL receive." Amen.

Your post really touched me. I pray for wisdom from deception every morning as I feel we are living in very evil times. I ask the Lord to protect my steps and my conversations. As I learned in AA

bry, just yesterday my middle daughter and I were discussing those very events...in our news was word of a 4 yr old child being beaten to death by a relative as her 3 children( ages 4,6,11) helped by holding him down, and a 15 yr old boy murdered a 70 yr old neighbor, stole her ID, money and car, his father turned him in. You hear about scams and deceitfulness, drugs and murder every day on the news and I'm afraid that people are becoming desensitized by it...we need to pay more attention to our world and do some serious praying if we want our world to survive satan's tricks...we need to acknowlege that Christ gave his life for our sins and we need to spread his word throughout the world and be brave and sincere in our faith...
