My friend Ken is battling internal demons -- he joins a church congregation, then moves on to another (in the Screwtape Letters, there is the passage, 'if you can't cure a man of church-going, then encourage him to go church-shopping). Nothing brings him any kind of peace. He tries to be spiritual, but h goes to a church to stand-out and be noticed. He likes to 'engage' individuals in talk, but it's all talk. He supports different causes, but gets upset whenever anyone disagrees with him. He rarely settles on any issue which does not pertain to his own life or pursuits. He misinterprets the Bible for his own ends. He is currently attending one of the 12-step Anonymous programs for personal compulsions having to do with sex. He is slowly cutting off his friends and channeling his energies toward this new compulsion.
I pray that God grant him wisdom to see where his life is heading and that he breaks some of the chains which bind him to the devil's works.
