The Five Finger Prayer

Somes times we ask oursevles how do we pray, how do we pray for others, how do we teach our children to pray. Here is a prayer that might help you.

The Five Finger Prayer

Your thumb is nearest to you. So begin your prayers by praying for those closest to you. They are the easiest to remember. To pray for our loved ones is, as C. S. Lewis once said, a "sweet duty."

The next finger is the pointing finger. Pray for those who teach, instruct and heal. This includes teachers, doctors, and ministers. They need support and wisdom in pointing others in the right direction. Keep them in your prayers.

The next finger is the tallest finger. It reminds us of our leaders. Pray for the president, leaders in business and industry, and administrators. These people shape our nation and guide public opinion. They need God's guidance.

The fourth finger is our ring finger. Surprising to many is the fact that this is our weakest finger; as any piano teacher will testify. It should remind us to pray for those who are weak, in trouble or in pain. They need your prayers day and night. You cannot pray too much for them.

And lastly comes our little finger; the smallest finger of all. Which is where we should place ourselves in relation to God and others. As the Bible says, "The least shall be the greatest among you." Your pinkie should remind you to pray for yourself. By the time you have prayed for the other four groups, your own needs will be put into proper perspective and you will be able to pray for yourself more effectively.

hey there.. good job on passing the written for your cycle test! i knew that you'd do just fine.

relax, be calm and think things thru on the riding portion. tell yourself that you can do it.. be confident and HAVE FUN!

you'll do just fine. i know you will. i have helped numerous students who were brand spankin' new, and petrified. they did just fine. you will too. ya gotta believe.

hey.. would you remember my mom in prayer as she is starting on the high dose prednisone today? (it really messes up her stomach and makes her very sick.. her blood pressure sky rockets and it makes her feel like climbing the walls. that's the side effects!)

pray that the procedure will go very well, and that there won't be any side effects from the xray dyes and other medications that she reacted to last time.

let me know how your class goes. you're going to do fine.

thanks again for your prayers and candles for my prayer requests that you shared. it means a lot. thank god for some good people here!

hello.. this is very good. i don't think that i have seen it before.

thank you for sharing it with us.

i want to say thank you for your prayers for my dear mom, dad and family. it is comforting to me. i appreciate it dear soul.

i will continue to pray for you too with everything going on.

just a side note... relax and don't worry about anything on your motorcycle class/exam.

ask plenty of questions as there are NO stupid questions (except the ones not asked)... remain calm, keep your knees in to the tank nice and snug at all times, let your knees act as shock absorbers, look with your head first - in the direction that you want to go (turn your head and keep looking into any turns and view the road plenty ahead of where you want to go).

just keep a calm attitude, tell youself that you CAN and WILL do it, and most of all, have fun with it. i helped teach classes and i have seen some people that were completely nervous, stiff and quite the mess... we got them relaxed and into their own groove so to speak and they did just fine.

i know that you will too. i just believe. you need to do the same my friend.

god bless you. let me know if i can help you with anything else on your class. i'm here for ya!
