Amy and Dave

Dave was in a very bad accident on the 6th. He was hit head on by a drunk driver and he's unstable in ICU. Can we please send out our love and Prayers to Amy and Dave.
They almost lost Dave this evening.

They put him on a portable ventilator and were going to take him down for his MRI. Before they left the room, Dave's heart rate dropped to 30. Machines were going off.
They had to hook him back up to the other vent. He is too unstable to do the MRI on.

They believe that he might have whats called a Sheering Injury: This injury occurs when the brain rapidly shifts forward and backward in a high-speed traumatic injury. One result is the shearing of tissue along the midline structures of the brain. Small hemorrhages occur along with the sheering.

He's in Dire need of prayer. Please.

Update - 12 months ago:

THANK GOD!!

Dave was able to have his MRI done and for them to check for any brain stem injuries.

It showed that he had a little bit of shearing to the front lobe and the side lobe. NO injury to the brain stem

Doctor was encouraged by this. He said that what he seen yesterday he isn't sure he would have given Dave much hope or Amy the encouragement to continue the extensive treatment programs.

The doctor said the MRI was as good as one could ask for with minimal brain damage.
He isn't sure if there will be any mental handicap as there just is no way to tell right now.

Dave will have to go through extensive therapy and work is definitely NOT something in the future for him, at least not work other than working on himself.

Over all it was a very positive update and I am so happy to be able to share it with you all.

Alicia is getting Amy out of the hospital in a while, taking her shopping to get some clothes, a good meal, a real hotel room, a real shower and hopefully some real sleep. As soon as she is able, she will either call with another update.

Thank you all so much for your prayers. Just to let you know Dave has still not woke up. They placed a trach tube and are planning on giving him a feeding tube. They think that part of the reason that he has not woke up is because of the pain medication that they have him on. They plan on weening him off of it. It is with hope at that time he will wake up. Amy is keeping it together as best as she can. She says it's hard to breath some times when she sees her _heart_ laying there unmoving.

Again I say thank you all so very much for your prayers. I love you all for your effort in helping Dave and Amy. God Love You All!

My prayers are on going for you, Amy and Dave. I pray that all shall come to a happy ending and Dave will be fully recovered.

Years ago I lived for a while in the Denver area and like all big areas folks seem to be in such a hurry and not care for one another. I pray for the wisdom of all folks who travel the streets and highways that they don't do foolish things that risk harm and take lives, Forgive Them Father for they know not what they have done to these children of yours. And Father please take care of Dave so that he may go back to being the loving active person you made.
