About Me:

I am a 33 year old father of three recovering from addiction and new to the faith. I am married, currently seperated, from a wonderful, beautiful, woman who serves in the Navy. After our first son was born, she was sent overseas. We lost our home and I moved in with my parents. When she returned, we became pregnant again within a few months. At sixteen weeks, we found out that our new baby had a life threatening heart defect that would require at least 3 open heart surgeries. It turned out to be four. Within the first three years of his life we were in the hospital for at least 20 months. He had a stroke at four months old, and required other surgeries and procedures. He came close to death many times. During that time we also witnessed the deaths of several children whom we became friends with. After all the corrective surgeries, he developed a rare side effect that made them all moot. Needless to say, he needed a heart transplant. During this time, we moved 7 times, I stayed home with the kids while my wife worked. After relocating to Philadelphia for the transplant, our baby girl was born. A few weeks later, we got the call that a heart had been found, and it was time. We spent 7 months in the hospital afterwards. We saw many more friends die. Shortly after we returned home, I began having panic attacks, that turned into full blown manic depressive, post-traumatic stress issues. Not having an outlet, I turned to and on my wife. She was having issues too, but her work kept her very busy. So, my mental health problems became a burden on her and the kids. Also, over the six years of our marriage, I had been battling a marijuana addiction, resulting in dishonesty and breech of trust with my wife. Neither of us were religious, with me being an outright athiest. So we had no spiritual foundation to build on. Last Christmas, my mental health issue resulted in a complete breakdown, and I ruined her families holiday. That was enough for her. I was asked to leave within weeks. This sent me deeper into my depression, resulting in 2 hospitalizations and many suicide attempts. The bright side is I have been drug free since the day she kicked me out and God has found me. My wife and I are still seperated, and she has filed for divorce, and then stopped, and then filed again, and stopped. I have been praying constantly for God to help save my marriage. I need help from you guys. I believe strongly in the power of prayer, and need all the back up I can get.
